Discharge Tube and/or Bracket Replacement
(KFA and KFR model grinders)

  1. UNPLUG THE GRINDER.
  2. Remove the cover plate with the plastic hopper, and set it aside
  3. Remove the switch handle. (KFA version).
  4. From the hopper area, looking in and towards the front of the grinder: remove the 4 outermost hex screws (p/n 50306) using 5/16 socket wrench.
  5. Lift and remove the switch housing (cover) and carefully unplug the two wires to the pilot light by pulling them away.
  6. From the hopper area, remove the other 4 hex screws (p/n 50305). The switch will drop into your hand.
  7. From the back side of the switch bracket, remove the 4 countersunk screws (p/n 50203) holding the discharge tube assembly (bracket).
  8. Replace the foam strip (p/n 40421) or 3" x ½ x ¼ thick weather stripping.
  9. Replace the new angle bracket and/or discharge tube. Tighten the 4 screws. We recommend using "blue" loctite on these screws.
  10. On older models, (if the rubber transition tube (40125) is not held down with two screws) remove the rubber transition tube (40125) and clean the hole where it fits free of coffee. Press the tube back in the hole. Replace the spring over the rubber tube. (On new grinders, the tube is held down with 2 special screws, without a spring).
  11. Position the hole of the discharge tube over the rubber transition tube and, while holding the assembly in place, install the 4 inner hex screws. Make sure that the rubber transition tube does not get crimped, or your grinder will clog.
  12. Attach the 2 wires to the pilot light.
  13. Slip the switch housing over the switch shaft. Position it in place and make sure that no wires get crimped between the grinder and the switch housing. Attach the remaining 4 hex head screws.
  14. Replace the cover plate with the plastic hopper.
  15. Replace the switch handle and screw.
  16. Plug in the grinder and test.

SPECIAL NOTES: If the coffee grounds get jammed and do not come out, the rubber transition tube (40125) is pinched and is restricting the flow of the ground coffee. Reach up into the discharge tube and guide it through the round opening. Reassemble if necessary.
