Grinding Discs

ditting® grinding discs have a long life expectancy with regular wear. The following chart is based on normal grinding on a medium setting. Life expectancy will shorten with the finer grinds simply because the discs will be working harder and wearing out at a faster rate than with coarser grinds.

  Change discs after approximately:
804 Models 15,000 lbs
903 Models 20,000 lbs
1203 Models 25,000 lbs
1403 Models 35,000 lbs
1800 Model 100,000 lbs

This is only an approximation of when discs should be changed. You will become more familiar with use if the discs are wearing down and should be changed.

Some signs of wear are:

the grind is coming out coarse no matter what setting you are using;

the coffee is coming out hot;

the coffee continues to clog up inside the machine;

if you cannot get the correct fineness on the specified setting; or

if the grinder seems to be grinding slower than normal.

We have service steps here to assist you in installing new discs into your grinder.

Most discs can usually be resharpened up to a maximum of three times if they have been properly cared for. We recommend you have two sets of discs to use: one in the grinder and one on hand as a spare set.

If discs are not installed properly and worn down  unevenly, they may
not be resharpenable.

Sometimes discs are left in the grinder too long and are past the point
of resharpening.

If a foreign object has fallen into the grinding chamber and caused
damage to the discs, the discs cannot be resharpened.

We also will not accept discs that have been manufactured,
resharpened or altered by an individual or company other
than ditting
®.

Note: only 804, 903, 1203, 1403 and 1800 discs are resharpenable. We do not resharpen discs for the KE640 espresso grinder or the KFG and KFH models.

To order resharpened discs, we must first receive your dull discs to measure and confirm that we are able to resharpen them. We are not able to send you resharpened discs prior to seeing and measuring your dull discs.

For resharpening discs within the United States, please mail your dull discs to our U.S. warehouse at:
